Mjølnermarschen — The Diamond

Mjølnermarschen takes place on Bornholm in early November and offers several distances, ranging from 21 km to 124 km. The longest distance is called the Diamond. A total of 150 percent signed up for the start of the Diamond. The plan was to keep a steady, relaxed pace and take frequent breaks, but the start ended up moving in a group at 6.2–6.4 km/h. Stefan dropped out at 55 km after 12.5 hours. His ego wrote checks his body couldn’t cash. Four hours and 20 km without a break, through tough terrain with steep stairs and beach sections, resulted in an average heart rate of 145 bpm. Game over. There was no recovery left, so it was a taxi back to the campsite. Daniel also dropped out at checkpoint two. He had had a cold the week before and took no risks with his health.
